About GA income tax withholding:

Household employers are not required to withhold income tax for household employees. We do withhold federal income tax unless you mark your employee as exempt, however we do not withhold GA income tax due to GA requiring the employer, not us, to register the account. If your employee requests state income tax to be withheld and you agree, you will need to register your GA withholding account and then communicate the number to us.

How to register your GA withholding account:

Login to your GTC (Georgia Tax Center) account: https://gtc.dor.ga.gov/_/

Click on I want to and select Register a new tax account. Select Withholding Tax.

Enter your residence as the business/workplace address, where the work is performed.

If asked, your NAICS code is: 814110 - Private Households.

Enter the first payroll date and select NO to “Expect to withhold more than $200 per month?” and Submit.

Logout and log back in to your account. You should see your new withholding account that includes two letters at the end.

Share this number with us, and we will start withholding GA state income tax for your employee.
